BTEC National Diploma Travel and Tourism (Level 3)

Overview

This course is suitable for anyone wanting to work in the travel and tourism industry or university.

Am I Ready?

5 GCSE’s at grade 4/C and above including Maths or English.

Course Details

The qualification covers a number of different areas of travel and tourism including: The Travel and Tourism industry – you will develop skills needed to examine, interpret and analyse a variety of statistics that measure the importance of tourism to the UK. Global destinations – you will investigate different types of destination and their appeal. Marketing – You will learn how to develop a marketing plan for travel and tourism organisations to help them attract customers. Customer Service – you will develop your customer service skills to enable you to support a company’s success. Travel and Tourism enterprise – you will carry out research to identify a gap in the market for a new travel and tourism enterprise.

Assessment

Written examination. Case Study/Synoptic Assessment. Assignments.

Fees & Funding

Sixteen / Eighteen

Full Time Further Education courses are free to school leavers and those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. Exam resit fees may apply as applicable.</p.

Grantham College reserves the right to offer a substitute course if the qualification advertised is not funded by the government.

Adult Learning Loan

Advanced Learning Loan to help with college fees on applicable course. Students won’t have to pay anything back until the end of their course and are earning £27,295 per year. Household income isn’t taken into account and there’s no credit check. Eligibility is dependent on course, nationality, and age to meet the ESFA funding eligibility criteria.

Additional Information

Students are given the opportunity to take part in work experience and visit a number of travel and tourism establishments including East Midlands airport, Alton Towers careers day and Belton House. In addition employers such as Jet 2 and TUI provide an insight into the careers available with them. Students in the past have taken part in the Erasmus work experience project in Rimini and Malta.
