This apprenticeship course is designed for both school leavers and any persons working in industry wishing to gain a recognised Beauty Therapy qualification, level 2.
Each employer will set their own entry requirements. Typically an apprenticeship candidate will be expected to have a minimum of 2 GCSEs grade 3/D or above.
A range of beauty therapy treatments to include: Waxing services, manicure, pedicure, facials, back massage (includes back, neck and shoulders), camouflage, Makeup, eyelash and eyebrow treatments. The course will consist of 80% work and 20% off the job training. You will have a workplace mentor or supervisor who will be responsible for your training and welfare at work. You will be assessed on both practical and theory aspects of your course throughout the duration of the qualification as part of the apprenticeship. There will be an end point assessment which will be assessed in the following way – Your End Point Assessment will be carried out by an Independent End Point Assessor. The assessment will use two independent methods, which will assess your competency against the Beauty Therapist Apprenticeship Standard. This will include a Knowledge Test and an Observation.
You need to demonstrate willingness to learn and have the enthusiasm and passion to be in one of the largest, professional and expanding industries. Work ethic, drive and commitment to learn will make you a highly employable therapist, along with standards of appearance. These qualities are vital for a therapist as well as working under pressure and being able to observe time management and motivation.
The key skills you will learn at level 2 will include the following;
Carry out treatments in line with legal, industry and organisational requirements, maintaining honesty, integrity and confidentiality.
Work safely with others in accordance with legal beauty therapy organisational requirements.
Client care and professionalism is key to Beauty therapy, making appointments, provide advice and recommendations on treatments and services.
Maintain standards of appearance and the salon/spa image, etiquette and hygiene.
This apprenticeship will pay the minimum wage of £3.90 per hour.
A Beauty Therapist works in one of the largest, trusted, professional and continually expanding industries within the Hair and Beauty Sector. The work environment can be varied in size, style and ambiance, from a cruise ship, through to small bespoke salons or luxury high end beauty salons and spas.
