Off the Job Training 2020/21: Apprentices are required to complete 20% of their contracted hours in Off the Job Training. They will be required to attend the AAT 3 class at Grantham College one day a week to include a weekly one hour portfolio session prior to their AAT class. The remaining OTJT training will need to take place in the workplace. It is expected that this apprenticeship will take between 12 and 14 months to complete.
Individual employers will set the selection criteria, which is likely to include 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English or equivalent. Apprentices without Level 1 English and Maths will need to achieve this level and have taken the test for level 2 prior to taking their end point assessment.
In addition to the EPA there are 4 units, Advanced Bookkeeping, Final Accounts Preparation, Indirect Tax, Management Accounts Costing. These are all online Computer based assessments.
When the Apprentice has reached the standard required, they will be put forward for the End Point Assessment which consists of two elements: 1. Synoptic Assessment 2. Professional Discussion (supported by a portfolio of evidence summary): The structured interview must last for 60 minutes. The structured interview will focus on the portfolio completed by the apprentice during the on programme phase.
Apprentices who are successful at Level 3 can then progress to Professional Accounting Technician Apprentice Level 4.
