New for September 2015 and in partnership with Grantham Town Football Club, Grantham College is pleased to announce the opening of its Football Development Centre.
The Football Development Centre is for players who have an interest in becoming a footballer at a semi-professional level or are interested in the management and coaching side of the industry.
Players will not only be coached for a minimum of six hours a week by Grantham Town FC/ UEFA B/ex-professional players but will also get academic qualifications as well as playing in matches in a similar level competitive league.
Head Coach Tom Clayton, a former sports student at Grantham College, has spent the last six years coaching at Nottingham Forest Youth Development Programme, having been a player with the club. As well as studying for his UEFA B coaching licence, Tom has been a semi-professional player at both Carlton Town FC and Grantham Town FC.
Students will have the option to study anywhere from one to three years with the Development Centre, depending on the individual’s ability and career goals. It is hoped that players will also be able to study for their FA Level 1 coaching qualification early on in their course, which will enable them to get involved with local school football teams to gain experience and practice.
