Women’s Professional Footballer Sophie Baggaley pays a visit to Grantham College

Sophie Baggaley, football goalkeeper for Birmingham City L.F.C paid Grantham College a visit to take part in a question answer session with students from Sport, Travel & Tourism and Business as part of their curriculum areas, Inspiration Day. The aim of the day was to use sport as a vehicle to inspire.

Sophie, 20 years old has been playing for Birmingham since 2014, has represented the England team as goal keeper playing for the Under-19 European Championship Finals and  been called up to the full England squad. After achieving all A and A* grades in her A level studies she then attended University of Birmingham to pursue Physiotherapy studies and her football career.

'It was a joy to speak to the students of Grantham College and it was inspiring for me to see students seeking a variety of career paths. All the students were fantastic and a credit to the college, and their attitudes will see them achieve whatever they want in the future. I hope that I helped to inspire the students by sharing some of my own experiences and providing an insight on a career in Women's football, and the journey that I have had so far. Thanks to Grantham College, the students and the staff for a great day,” said Sophie.

The students all enjoyed meeting Sophie and gave positive feedback that they are now aware of how sport can inspire people.
