Students from Public Services gained an insight of the Fire Services Department and the many vital roles within the service on their recent trip to Grantham’s Fire Station.
They were hosted by Peter Lake, Blue Watch crew manager and the rest of the on-call watch team. They were first given a tour around the station and then shown the various vehicles and appliances that they use on a daily basis. The students were also given the chance to try out some of the equipment and re-enact the tough situations that fire fighters have to tackle.
Being part of the Fire Service can be demanding and challenging so it’s important for members to be physically fit. Due to this obligation new prospects are required to partake in a physical test which our students also got a taste of.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this excursion and most importantly gained valuable knowledge of the field.
This is one of the many exciting visits that you can expect when you study Public Services with us.
