Birch Wood School visit Grantham College

The Learning Development Centre recently welcomed visitors from Birch Wood School in Melton Mowbray which included Head of Sixth Form; Paul Croxwood, members of staff and eleven pupils.

They were all given a tour around the LDC facilities, including classrooms, kitchen and the garden area. They also had a fitness session with Lynsey Coy in Powersport, the college’s gym.

“I just want say a huge thank you for arranging through Jonathan Pope such a great visit to Grantham College. As staff, we certainly left with a very positive impression of what your college has to offer SEN students in the progression into adulthood. My pupils also left excited having enjoyed the day, the tour, the gym & spending time outside in the sunshine during their afternoon.

“May I say that the visit was well organised & thought through and that Jonathan did an excellent job of hosting the event, interacting well with both the students and staff, his larger than life personality shone through as he conducted the tour around college addressing so many individuals by name, he certainly shared his passion both for what you have to offer as a college and supporting student & parents throughout the process.

“Your tour certainly left a very positive impression with everyone; my students were still talking about their visit the morning after, as were the staff. It was great to see Nicola Brock (an ex-student of Birch Wood School) shining so positively - letting my students go after so many years & seeing them thrive is testament to the great work you are doing there at Grantham College,” says Paul Croxwood.
