Art & Design students create unique, limited Christmas Cards to raise funds for local charity

With only few weeks to go till Christmas, our Art and Design students have been busy creating Christmas Cards to raise money for Mencap and the college.

The festive project is in in collaboration with The Cree Centre, Grantham who provide support and daytime activities to local people with learning disabilities.

Neil Garton, Danielle Green, Maxine Keal and Dawn Balderson from The Cree Centre recently attended an Arts & Crafts community course at the college where they came up with prints for Christmas Cards. The prints were then handed over to our Art & Design students who were able to develop them and create intricate pieces that reflected their style as an artist. Creativity was at its peak as the students were able to explore and express their own interpretation through the use of different media, materials and techniques.

The designs were collectively chosen by staff members and clients from the centre during their visit to the college where the students had the opportunity to present their masterpieces and share their artistic journey. The designs that were chosen were by Emma Bishop, Jessica Roberts, Shayna Rowlands, Rachel Hare, Amy Page and Heidi Claridge.

In total, there will be 2,400 copies printed and sold as a pack of 6 for £3.50 each. If you would like to get your hands on these unique, limited pieces you can now purchase them at Little Gems, The Cree Centre, Grantham College Christmas Fête and St Wulfrums Christmas Tree Festival.

This is just one of the many exciting, community projects that our Art and Design students have been part of this year.
