Newark Castle

This is Newark castle that we went to last week in our half-term. It has a long history behind it and we went there and learned more about the history. For example why is there a river between the castle and the other side? Why are the stairs so narrow for people, etc.

It was a fun trip, the weather was great and it was a good chance to learn some UK history.

Abseiling

It was a lovely sunshiny day when I abseiled down the face of the tower of St. Wulfram’s church under the expert guidance of the territorial Army with the aim of raising money for the church and Help for the Heroes. People had come from the town and were sitting together on the grass around the church, chatting , eating, drinking and relaxing, watching the once a year big drop event.

It took me sometime to climb the stairs to the top of the church. Once I got to the balcony I didn’t feel it was high for me, because of the buildings in my town are even taller. I am used to the height. The army helped me to equip myself and checked me for safety. Then I started my big drop. The first step out I was shocked and frightened. It felt like the earth was trying to pull you down! And when I looked up I saw two thin ropes without any support. It too me 5 minutes to get down to the ground.

I had done it! It was a nice day.

.......................................................

Hi Kit here, I joined my friends Leo and Jack last Saturday to abseil down the church. I abseiled at two o’clock after Jack. The army was very helpful and I really enjoyed the experience.

I would do it all again!

It is my first time in England

I arrived at Grantham on 1st sept. it is my first time in England. In my opinion, Britain is quite clean, green and smooth, which is my first impression of britain.

On my way from airport, I saw loads of sheep and horse beside road. It is a really uncommon scenery in China. Grasslands and beautiful houses are everywhere.

I love the weather in the UK very much. It is always cool and is not as hot as that in shenzhen. the british people here are kind and hospitable. They are active to help you when you have some diffculty or lose your way.

The price of commodities in England is expensive. When I first time went to a supermarket, I just bought a few things because almost everything here is three times expensive than the same one in China. I don’t think English food is very delicious except British breakfast which is really attractive.

I love England!!!

I arrived to Grantham on the 4th

I arrived to Grantham on the 4th. I have been so busy looking at my timetable since l started college. Also i have been busy making new friends.

Grantham is a small town. However, there are many special buildings such as St. Wulfram Church , the Guild Hall. There is a good commuting service. The weather and the view is great here and you will feel comfortable and relaxed. Also there are also many supermarkets where you can easily go. The teachers who are in Grantham are very nice and helpful such as they will teach the students patiently. So i think Grantham College is a great place for the students to study.

At the beginning

At the beginning, I started my course three days later than the other students, so it was worrying if I was going to make friends. But the students in my course were friendly and I quickly made friends with them. To improve my English I joined an IELTS course and got a score of 6.0. I have finished my course and would like to join health and social care course in September 2011 in Grantham College.
