Those applicants with 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) including Maths & Science, First Diploma (including Merit in Maths, Science & one other unit) or other relevant qualification

This course aims to give you a broad grounding in Operations & Maintenance Engineering. The National Certificate is equivalent to two A Levels.

You will take 5 core subjects:

• Business systems for technicians
• Communications for technicians
•  Electrical principles
• Mathematics for technicians
• Project-operations & maintenance.

Optional subjects may also include:

•  Electrical installation
• Electro, pneumatic & hydraulic systems & devices
• Mechanical principles
• Monitoring & fault diagnosis
• PC maintenance.

You also work towards an NVQ Level 1 in Performing Engineering Operations or study for an AS Level or A Level in maths. In addition, you may be required to continue to study English, maths or IT as part of your course.

Coursework & Tests

This qualification allows you to progress on to higher level qualifications such as HND/Cs or degree level programmes. The course can also act as ideal preparation for careers in plant & maintenance, process, control systems and Mechanical Engineering.
