Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery and successful completion of an interview

This course is designed as a training programme and is suitable for those who wish to obtain employment in the construction industry as a carpenter or a joiner.

This nationally recognised qualification is designed for those who want to pursue a career in the construction industry as a Carpenter or Joiner. The course covers a high proportion of practical activity supplemented by theoretical activities.

The course covers the following core units:

• Building methods & construction technology
• Circular saw
• Erect structural carcassing
• Information, quantities & communicating with others
• Maintenance
• Safe working practices
• Second fixing.

You may be required to study Key Skills as part of your course.

Practical assignments, a series of knowledge questions for each unit and a multi-choice online end test.

Successful completion of the course will allow you to obtain employment as a carpenter or joiner and progress to the NVQ 2.

Tools and materials are supplied by the College.

Safety footwear is required for all workshop sessions.

Study materials are required for all theory sessions.
