Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying and successful completion of an interview

This nationally recognised qualification is designed for those who want to pursue a career in the construction industry as a Bricklayer.

The course covers a high proportion of practical activity supplemented by theoretical activities.

The course covers the following core units:

• Building methods & construction technology
• Cavity walling forming masonry structures
• Information, quantities & communicating with others
• Safe working practices
• Set out masonry structures
• Solid walling, isolated & attached piers
• Thin joint masonry & masonry cladding.

You may be required to study Key Skills as part of your course.

Practical assignments, a series of knowledge questions for each unit and a multi-choice online end test.

Successful completion of this programme will allow you to seek employment in the construction industry as an apprentice Bricklayer and study for an NVQ Level 2.

Tools and materials are supplied by the College.

Safety footwear is required for all workshop sessions.

Study materials are required for all theory sessions.
