The BTEC First Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning & Development is a one year full-time course aimed at students 16 years old and over, and on successful completion you will be awarded a Level 2 qualification. You will be given the opportunity to develop your skills and an understanding of working with children and young people aged between 0-16 years - knowledge of this age range will be gained through participation in a variety of subjects and work placements.
The course comprises of six units of study:
- Communication with children & adults
- Keeping children safe
- Preparing & maintaining environments for childcare
- Professional development roles & responsibilities in childcare
- Supporting children’s play & learning
- Understanding children’s development.
The main subjects are enhanced by further studies including Key Skills (Application of Number, Communication Skills and Information Computer Technology).
